OUR STORY
Hi, I’m Heather. I’m a 70’s kid who grew up with Disco music, Jane Fonda workouts and Saturday Night Fever. In my grade 7 gym class, instead of playing soccer, we learned how to Do the Hustle.
I rocked brown bell bottom cords, blue suede gazelles with yellow stripes, sparkly sweaters, and Dr. Pepper Lipsmacker.
Growing up, our dining room was lined with brown velour, and our basement bathroom was wallpapered with vintage Playboy Centrefolds. My favourite things to do after school were roller-skating around the block in my pink satin shorts and jacket set, playing on our ‘Pinball Wizard’ pinball machine, and making up dance routines to Abba.
Now I’m all grown up and have 4 kids of my own, who all know that when the song “Brick House” comes on, Mama’s hitting the dance floor. I’m actually pretty shy, but I love wearing and surrounding myself with fun, colourful, glittery things that make me happy and spark joy.
For over a decade I worked as a TV producer at an internationally celebrated show that featured everyone from fashion designers and artists, to photographers and architects. I loved living vicariously through the kaleidoscope world of creatives, and I’m still so inspired by people of all ages and walks of life who make the world a more colourful and interesting place. Along with making clothes that are fun to wear, I hope to continue celebrating the people inspiring me here on The Disco Hour, and over at our other groovy space, The Superloop.
